Touring Kayaking and Canoeing

In this category there are three suitable styles of craft (Kayak, Canoe and Sit-on) and we have identified three levels depending on your skills, a basic level, a medium level and the top end. This is dependant on how seriously you want to enjoy canoeing, as is explanatory from the examples below. Generally a top end boat will have better speed, tracking and specification, equipping the craft to undertake longer journeys more successfully. Below is not a definitive list, but highlights craft with the design characteristics typical for the suggested usage.

Inland Touring KAYAKS for Rivers, lakes, Canals and Estuaries. Anywhere where there is sheltered water.

Basic, we suggest the Dagger Blackwater 10.5 (pictured) or the Perception Kiwi 1

Middle, we suggest the Perception Acadia

Top End, we suggest the Perception Carolina or the Dagger Savanha

Inland Touring OPEN CANOES for Rivers, lakes, Canals and Estuaries. Anywhere where there is sheltered water. Open Canoes are a bit vulnerable to swamping and wind age to be recommended for advanced sea touring.

Basic, we suggest Old Town Discovery 158 or the Mobile Adventure Ranger

Top End, we suggest Old Town Camper or the Mobile Adventure Prospector

Sea Touring KAYAKS for sea touring, extended journeys and up to advanced sea kayaking, where greater speed and tracking are required...

Basic, we suggest the Perception Carolina or the Dagger Savanha

Middle, we suggest the Perception Fastnet or the P&H Range of boats

Top end, we suggest the P&H Composite boats (Quest Composite pictured)

Touring SIT-ONS, more suited to journeying in one and two man versions

Basic, we suggest Dagger Frolic, Perception Scooter, Ocean Kayak Frenzy (2 man- Percption Gemini, Ocean Kayak Malibu 2)

Middle, we suggest Perception Freedom beach (2 man- Freedom 2 beach)

Top end, we suggest Perception Freedom surf (2 man- Freedom 2 surf, Ocean Kayak Agean)
