In General paddlers will change their
White Water kayak or canoe for a more specialist boat as their skills
improve or they increase the difficulty of the White water they intend
to paddle. Many of the White water Kayaks come in a range of sizes to
suit different paddlers weights.

Introductory KAYAKS, good
for introducing the concepts for paddling in moving water or
surf, for example the Perception Whip-it/ Whiplash, Dagger RPM
(pictured), Pyranha Acrobat 270/ 275. These boats are
reasonable long and offer good stability and tracking, good
confidence buider for moving water. |

|
|
River Cruising KAYAKS have
good river running ability but lack potential for playboating
moves, are generally roomy and designed with safety in
mind. Examples include the Dagger GT series, Perception Sonic
series, Pyranha G3. These are generally flat bottomed so are a
more progressive step that introductory kayaks. They will be
reasonable on a wave and capable of harder white water river
running |

|
| F
Freeride or 'Crossover' KAYAKS
have good river running ability and an ability to perform some
of the play boating moves. This is the category most White Water
paddles choose who opt for only one boat. Examples include the Pyranha
I3 series, Pyranha Inazone series, Riot Booster series,
Perception Method series, Dagger Outlaw series (pictured).
Freeriding boats have planning hulls for loosness on a wave but
still just enough volume to be capable river runners |

Freestyle 'park and play'
KAYAKS are specifically designed for Kayak acrobatics and
tricks, and are constantly changing in design concept to suit a
particular move or river feature. We suggest you contact us for
the latest info from each brand. Pictured below is an example,
the Liquid
Logic Session, specifically designed for easy cart-wheeling in a
hole due to its low volume slicy ends. |

|
|
Creek KAYAKS are
specifically designed for challenging, usually steep and technical
white water, where safety and control count. Creek KAYAKS will
have a full plate footrest, high volume through-out the boat for
quick resurfacing after drops and a large
cockpit for easy exit. Favourites include the Dagger CFS, Pyranha H3 series
(pictured), Perception Java and the Pyranha Microbat. |

WW CANOES are designed to
be maneuverable, in fact most general purpose canoes are good
for easy White Water. Specialist freestyle open boats are on the
