Uganda and the Victoria Nile (White Nile).
A Playboaters paradise; big water fun in the sun. A/S Shop oik Ewart, Friend of many Jason Scholey, and Product designer at Palm Equipment Tim Maud all went on a nice jolly to Uganda to get a taste for big water play. They had a lot of fun, here is some action on and off the water.
|
The day one section, 30k in total including at least 15k of flat water.! |
Bugagali Falls, the first big rapid of the day and one of many channels. |
|
Shuttle Africa style! Licensed to carry 14, in reality, many more and 10 boats. The best way to travel to uber wave Malalu. |
Local video boater Doug enjoying some free time. Helix at Malalu. |
|
The only other UK boaters out at the time, Allan Ellard and Pyranha team mate Liz Bell were having fun. Allan's first Helix in his new Seven-O. |
Jason knocks out one of many big blunts, more time was spent on the wave than taking photos. |
|
The entrance to Nile River Explorers camp. The mud will stain every thing! |
View from the Bar. A great place to enjoy some cold Nile special beer after a good days paddle. |
|
Spot the "Muzungu" (white man). Jinja; a 20 min 'boda-boda' ride from camp. |
Rice and peas. There are many exotic things for sale in the market. |
|
The sights and smells of down town Jinja market are a must see. |
Or just let what you want come to you. |
|
Ewart fires off a big one. Malalu. We went there a lot. Its very good. |
Ewarts not very good with a camera. Tim getting aggressive. |
|
Style and precision. Tim finds the green. |
Malalu launching pad. Its not night time really. |
|
Ewart looking for the green as well. |
He thinks he's found it... |
|
The launch... |
...The landing. |

Tim and Jason after a back wave session. |
As an all year round destination Uganda is great. Its hot, there's always water and in two weeks you still have stuff left to do. The wild life, people and culture are fantastic, there's more to life than paddling....? September brings the Nile River Festival and big air comp.
