It was my first taste of competetive surf kayak paddling, and while I got knocked out by some much better surfers I had a great day out. When not on the water I spent alot of time helping out with the judging. In the end I was given a certificate for 'best newcomer' but I'm sure most of it was down to helping out with the judging rather than my on the water performance! If you are a keen kayak surfer you should have a go at a competition, its a great day out, and a good way to meet lots of other keen kayak surfers.
