Kayaking ‘The Great Loop’

Recently retired South Western Ambulance Service Emergency Care Assistant and Royal Navy veteran Steve Chard decided to embark on a kayaking expedition to celebrate his 60th birthday and to fundraise for charity …but the 4 days/120 miles of the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Marathon wasn’t enough after he heard of America’s “Great Loop” – Steve ended up paddling 5700 miles of Canada and the USA ‘s interconnected waterways, canals, rivers, lakes AND the East Coast from Florida to Nova Scotia!!
Come and hear how a novice sea kayaker planned, trained and finally succeeded in becoming a “Gold Looper”… 14 months and 5700 miles!
Steve is fundraising for 2 local charities and 2 national:-

Muckle Flugga or Bust

A trip to the end of the British Isles. Two friends try to paddle a double kayak from John O’Groats to the most northerly rock in the British Isles, Muckle Flugga. It turns into an epic adventure of open crossings, speeding tides, towering cliffs, wildlife,  archaeology and a lot of super noodles.
