At AS Watersports we understand that you may have some questions you would like to be answered about our online purchasing service, below we have provided answers to some of the frequently asked questions, but if there is still something that you are unsure about then please call us at our Exeter shop on 01392 219600 and we will endeavour to answer your questions.

How do I buy online from AS Watersports?
Simply browse the site and if you see something you like, add it to your cart. When you have finished, click on the 'Basket' button on the top tool bar and proceed through all the payment screens. If you are not sure or need some advice, please call or email the shop and one of the team will be happy to help you with your selection.

What we have listed on the site are the items we try to keep in stock, although this does vary seasonally. If you can't see what you need, call or e-mail as we have all sorts of odd things tucked away that we can easily send to you in the post. We do not always have every product, in every size, in stock at any one time. Often there are delays with the supply of goods to us, but if there is a problem, we will let you know immediately and advise on the delivery time.

Please note - we are currently arranging new delivery charges for kayaks and canoes, so delivery of all boats need to be arranged by phone.

Can I order by phone?

We can also accept orders over the phone: Give us a call during our opening hours to place your order, we will usually be able to confirm that the items are in stock over the phone or we will be able to check and call you back. We will then take your delivery and payment details and get your order processed.

How to place an order

Secure Online Ordering

To place an order:

  • Pick the item(s) you would require and select any options you need to (size, colour, construction and delivery options) then click ‘Buy Now’, this will then take you to the screen ‘what’s in my cart?’ listing the products you have selected including the options you have selected and quantities.
  • Once you have ordered everything you need, click on the basket symbol at the top right of the screen and scroll down to the check out button.
  • You will then need to enter your email and password if you’re a returning customer or if you’re a new customer click continue, this will then take you to a screen to enter your details and then will continue with placing the order.
  • You will then be taken to the delivery information screen, where you will be shown any additional delivery charges; you can adjust the delivery address and leave any additional comments you need to in the box.
  • Next is the Payment information screen which will ask you to confirm your billing address (this is the address that your card is registered to).
  • The order confirmation screen will show you your complete order, the total cost of your order and give you the options to make any amendments to your details that you may need to do.
  • Once you are happy with all the details, click ‘confirm order’ and then you will be taken to the Sage Pay Secure Online Payment Screen. Follow the instructions to complete your order.
  • You will then receive an email confirming your order.

During the ordering process on kayaks & canoes there is a option for the buyer to collect, this can be done on any of our products, it just needs to be mentioned in the comments box when you place your order. For security reasons if you do choose to collect in store this will need to be collected by the card holder who’s details where entered for payment and bring ID such as a driving license or passport, so that the payment can be processed online, on collection of the item(s). Alternatively if you would rather pay on collection by card or cash this can be done by anyone and the online payment will be cancelled.

How we process your order

Order Processing

  • The payment for your order is not processed, until we check that all items are in stock and ready to be dispatched. We will then usually dispatch your order the same day, First Class Recorded. If the item is out of stock we will email and inform you of restocking dates and alternatives where applicable.

SagePay online payment system

How do I know my details are secure when shopping online?

Sage Pay is audited by an independent auditor on a regular basis to ensure that we comply with the latest security standards set out by Visa and MasterCard. If you have processed your order online using the payment pages hosted by Sage Pay, please locate and click on the padlock image which can be found on our payment pages to confirm that your details are collected in a secure environment.

The padlock is located in a different area of the payment page screen depending on the internet browser you are using – it can normally be found in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, at the top of the screen next to (or inside) the address bar or at the very top right hand corner of the screen. This padlock shows that your details are collected using 128 bit SSL technology.

Once you have entered your card details, Sage Pay will securely send these details to the bank to be authorised. This is a completely secure process and we ensure that your details cannot be accessed by a third party.

Making it safe to shop online
By using Sage Pay, the company you're about to shop with is ensuring that your card details are not compromised. At Sage Pay we encrypt every transaction to the highest global standards. Our secure systems are scanned and audited regularly by one of the world’s leading Qualified Security Assessors (QSA) so that you can be confident about using them to make a secure payment online.

Transaction security

All transaction information passed between merchant sites and Sage Pay’s systems is encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates. No cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted and any messages sent to your servers from Sage Pay are signed using MD5 hashing to prevent tampering. You can be completely assured that nothing you pass to Sage Pay’s servers can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information.

Encryption and Data Storage

Once on our systems, all sensitive data is secured using the same internationally recognised 256-bit encryption standards used by, among others, the US Government. The encryption keys are held on state-of-the-art, tamper proof systems in the same family as those used to secure VeriSign's Global Root certificate, making them all but impossible to extract. The data we hold is extremely secure and we are regularly audited by the banks and banking authorities to ensure it remains so.

System security

Sage Pay’s systems are scanned quarterly by Trustwave which are an independent Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) and an Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV) for the payment card brands.
Sage pay is also audited annually under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) and is a fully approved Level 1 payment services provider, which is the highest level of compliance. We are also active members of the PCI Security Standards Council (SSC) that defines card industry global regulation.

What is 3D Secure Authentication?

3D Secure stands for 3 Domain Secure. There are 3 parties involved in the 3D Secure process which are:

  • The Vendor
  • The Acquiring Bank
  • Visa and MasterCard

3D Secure is a culmination of Verified by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard Secure Code (MSC). 3D secure can be thought of as an online version of ‘chip and pin’ technology, whereby the cardholder has a personalised password registered against their card that is then entered during the deposit process.
Cards that are part of the scheme: Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard, Mastercard Debit, International Maestro, UK Maestro and Visa Electron.
