The Werner Sidekick is a fantastic kayak surfing and playboating paddle. Sitting above the Werner Player, the large-sized blades on the Side kick suit a stronger and more powerful paddle. It was one of the very first whitewater paddles to feature downturned blades, a major innovation that aids in setting up even the most advanced tricks and allows great directional control in rudder and draw strokes. Built from high quality continuous weave fiberglass for superior strength and durability.
Werner Whitewater Straight Shaft
Built for the rigors of the whitewater environment, a sidekick with fiberglass shaft has the highest level of strength.
Their fiberglass shafts have performed for decades on some of the hardest rivers and are a key component in their Bomber reputation. Designed and tested to combine light weight, comfortable flex and the highest level of strength, our craftsman assure each one is built with pride. This shaft is going to live a hard life on the river, with a customer counting on it. A combination of fiberglass materials make up this shaft.
Werner Neutral Bent Shaft
Align your wrists in a more ergonomic position with a Werner SideKick Bent shaft; reduce fatigue gain the confidence of full hand contact. A Neutral Bend means blade, ferrule and grip in a straight line for a familiar feel of a straight shaft.
A crank shaft design aligns your wrists in a more ergonomic position to reduce fatigue while grasping the shaft for the confidence of full hand contact. Proper ergonomic hand, wrist and forearm position alleviates stress and strain and the potential for injury. A loose grip also promotes ergonomics, along with better overall technique, and some paddlers want the confidence of knowing if they do over grip due to habit or advanced conditions they are protected. This is especially important to those with pre-existing injuries.
Taking design a step further, Werner Paddles innovated the "Neutral Bent." Achieved by lining up all parts of the paddle in one straight line. The blades, the grip area and the ferrule. This allows for the familiar feel of a straight shaft paddle, making finesse strokes and rolling much easier and allowing for a seamless transition for those switching from straight to bent. Further attention to detail went into the indexing. Tested to best fit the hand, give secure full hand contact, better control and comfort even with a loose grip. A Werner Side Kick with Bent shaft has a slight penalty in weight and cost, but the trade off is the confidence in knowing you are protecting your body for the longevity of your whitewater paddling.
Werner Fibreglass Construction
The most impact and abrasion resistant blades, with fiberglass construction are known for durability.
Originally developed in the 70's and perfected for decades. Werner Premium fiberglass blades in HD Graphics or Translucent colors look unlike any other. A true work of art, the perfection in hand craftsmanship can be seen by holding the blades up to the light.
